Orwell Prize : Book evening June 11th 2017

Calling all bookworms!

Once again the Director of the prestigious Orwell Prize has donated a collection of entries and winners from the annual competition to the Roddy Scott Foundation.

The Orwell Prize is a prize for political writing of outstanding quality. The winner is selected on the basis of coming closest to George Orwell’s ambition of making political writing into an art. The writers therefore represent bold thinking that often goes against mainstream thought. The award encourages writers brave enough to speak out for truth regardless of popularity or consensus opinion.

These books together with a range of other new titles will be for sale at the end of November. The evening is a chance to look at an exciting range of books, whilst enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine. You can enjoy smoked salmon canapés or mince pies and chat with likeminded book lovers. There will be information on the work of the foundation, a great raffle, wine bar, book stall and some tremendous bargains for Christmas presents in our now famous ‘bargain box’ where you may get more than you bargained for!
